A Call to Arms was commissioned by the Fuse Medway festival in 2009 – a site-specific performance project to engage with the heritage and history, as well as the everyday life of the village community of Upnor. The project was realised by Joseph Young and Peter Faulkner Murphy in collaboration with Mikhail Karikis and Eva Weaver.

Over a period of 5 months we spent a number of intensive days and weekends working with and within the community to build up a portrait of village life that we then reflected back to our hosts in a series of ceremonies and interventions in public spaces.
